If you’re searching for your next romantasy obsession, look no further than Quicksilver book by Callie Hart. This book has quickly gone viral among fantasy readers, and for good reason. Highly recommended for fans of A Court of Thorns and Roses (ACOTAR) and Fourth Wing, Quicksilver offers a blend of fae magic, vampires, alchemy, and a romance that keeps you hooked from start to finish. I gave this book a solid 5/5 stars — it’s an addictive, fast-paced read and the first in the upcoming Fae & Alchemy Series.

Quicksilver by Callie Hart – A Quick, Addictive, and Spicy Romantasy Read

One of the best things about Quicksilver is how fast-paced and easy to read it is. The writing pulls you in, making it one of those books you can devour in just a couple of sittings. It blends fantasy adventure, romance, and dark intrigue in a way that feels both familiar to romantasy fans and refreshingly unique.

The Romance In Quicksilver: Forced Proximity and Reluctant Allies to Lovers

If you’re a fan of enemies-to-lovers tropes, Quicksilver gives you something slightly different: more of a forced proximity / reluctant allies to lovers romance. The banter, mistrust, and eventual bond between the main characters makes the romance feel natural and earned. It’s not insta-love, but rather a gradual and believable progression that pays off beautifully.

Is Quicksilver Spicy?

Yes Quicksilver definitely has spice! There are around five spicy chapters, and I’d personally give it a 4/5 spice rating. The chemistry between the leads burns slowly before building into tension-filled moments that romantasy fans crave. The scenes are well-written, steamy without taking over the plot, and perfectly balanced with the fantasy elements. If you love romantasy books that mix action, magic, and heat, Quicksilver delivers the best of all worlds.

Unique Worldbuilding – Fae, Vampires, and Alchemy

What really sets Quicksilver apart from other romantasy books is its alchemy-driven magic system. I love that Saeris, the main character was a smith and that her magic manifested through metal. Further on, she discovers she’s the only known alchemist alive. Her magic manifests in the forge, where she creates weapons and relics from enchanted metals like quicksilver. The fact that magic is tied directly to forging swords and shaping metal was one of my favorite parts of the story.

The quicksilver itself even has a voice in her mind, adding an eerie but fascinating layer to the worldbuilding. Combined with fae politics, vampires, ancient gods, and power-hungry tyrants, Callie Hart has built a universe that feels really rich and unique.

Characters That Stand Out

While Saeris is a strong and compelling protagonist and Kingfisher is the perfect dark MMC, the side characters truly shine. Ren, Lorreth, and especially Carrion Swift add humor, loyalty, and depth to the story. Carrion Swift, in particular, had some of the best character development and quickly became one of my favorite supporting characters — funny, brave, and always loyal to Saeris, especially during her lonelier moments in the forge trying to create relics.

The interactions between the characters make the book feel more layered, giving us friendships and alliances that are just as compelling as the central romance.

Pacing: Character-Driven with an Action-Packed Ending

The first two-thirds of Quicksilver are character-driven, focusing heavily on Saeris’s discovery of her powers, the relationships she builds, and the tension simmering beneath the surface. But don’t worry, the final third of the book explodes into action, with secrets revealed, battles fought, and a whirlwind of revelations that set up the rest of the series.

It’s the kind of ending that leaves you desperate to know what happens next.

Why You Should Read Quicksilver If You Loved ACOTAR And Fourth Wing

Quicksilver by Callie Hart is everything I want in a romantasy: unique magic, fae politics, vampires, unforgettable characters, and a simmering romance full of tension. The alchemy-based magic system and Saeris’s role as the last alchemist made this book stand out in a crowded genre, while the side characters and action-packed finale kept me fully invested.

For fans of ACOTAR, Fourth Wing, and other enemies-to-lovers fantasy books, Quicksilver is a must-read. It’s fast, spicy, emotional, and one of the most addictive books I’ve picked up this year. I can’t wait to dive into Brimstone when it comes out in 2025.

My rating: 5/5 – highly recommend for romantasy lovers!
